Pennock Announces New Gun Lake Family Medicine

Pennock Health Services broke ground today on a new $850,000 construction project for a family practice office and diagnostic center in Yankee Springs Township. According to Chief Executive Officer, Sheryl Lewis Blake, “The project will involve moving the family practice office of Dr. Larry Hawkins and nurse practitioner Sarah Verberg to a new 5,000 square foot medical facility centrally located to serve the Wayland, Gun Lake and Yankee Springs communities. The medical center will house a service expansion including a diagnostic center with lab, x-ray, and other services as deemed needed by the community.”

“The office design will support efficiencies for care delivery and enhance the plan for a Patient Centered Medical Home."

In a release by Pennock, Sheryl Lewis Blake commented, “Providing expanded services to a growing segment of our community is the core mission of Pennock and we were thrilled with the support of Yankee Springs Township leaders in planning the new facility to meet the healthcare needs of the western side of Barry County.” Bob Davis, Executive Director of the Pennock Physician Network noted, “The office design will support efficiencies for care delivery and enhance the plan for a Patient Centered Medical Home."

Orthopedic Services Expand

Together, Pennock Health Services and Hastings Orthopedic Clinic have expanded their breadth of orthopedic services; providing sophisticated, high level care right in Hastings, Michigan. This unique partnership ensures patients receive fully comprehensive musculoskeletal care, including the latest advancement in Anterior Total Hip Replacement, Reverse Total Shoulder Replacement, Total Knee Arthroplasty, and an Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty.

Pennock Congratulates First Five Physicians to Become Certified in Patient Centered Medical Home Model

Amongst the first to be certified, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan has designated R. Troy Carlson, MD, Family Tree Medical Associates, Matthew Garber, MD, Family Tree Medical Associates, Thomas Hoffman, MD, David Parker, MD, Hastings Internal Medicine, and Douglas Smendik, MD, Cherry Valley Family Physicians, as Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) practices for 2011-2012.

As a Patient Centered Medical Home, they are among a select group of primary care physicians in Michigan who are improving health care quality by adopting this model of care. “The patient-centered medical home is health care centered on the patient,” said David Parker, MD. “We take a holistic and comprehensive approach to patient care, helping our patients meet their health care goals and keeping track of their specialist visits, test results and prescriptions.”
